Yellowfella developed an interest in music at around age 12 when he hegan banging the dinning room table with cutlery, much to the annoyance of his dad, and found it made a tune he liked. Later when he attended church he watched the musicians especially the drummer, after the ceremony he had a go on the drums and found he had a natural ability and talent. People around him were impressed and so began his love of music. He started as a drummer in the church choir, without the necessary help from any music instructor and later learnt to play the piano and guitar. At that time, the talented nature of music in him, could not be hidden; as whenever he had spare time he could be found where music was being implemented. He is blessed with a soft toned voice, that is calming and perfect for gospel music. The words of his songs coupled with an amazing voice can only make the listener want more.
What makes Yellowfella Yellowfella You are probably wondering why the name yellowfella? It was given to him several years ago whilst at a party. He was dancing in a way his friend thought l was similar to the way musician Fela Kuti danced when he was performing, hence the fela part. Although it is difficult to see in the photographs his skin has a brown/yellow colour. He didn’t like the nickname at first and told his friend to stop saying but his friend liked he and refused to stop. He decided that he should pay him to stop saying it but he realised that everyone else had picked up on it and the name stuck. He then decided that it was not so bad after all and kept it as his artist name.
Although it was written above that he took up music in the church he really took up music professionally when at polytechnic. His parents encouraged him to train for a ‘proper job’ and it was decided that he would train to be a quantity surveyor. He got a place at Ede Polytechnic and began his studies, in his spare time he founded the

If you have not heard his music he sounds similar to the singing duo the Light House Family. He appeals across all ages from two to ninety two, his songs are a mixture of English and Yoruba. His music library features a lot of inspirational and cultural messages, which helps to diversify his music genre across tribes and religions. With this, he is able to relate his music to all people, seeming to understand their present moods and situations.
Some of his major influences are: Nat King Cole, George Duke, Steve, King Sunny Ade and many others. He is also a sound producer and produces a wide range of music from pop to hip hop, rock, high life, Fuji, ju ju, dance, dance hall, raggae and much more. This premiere singer and producer performs with much enthusiasm, style and character that swells the audience into a spellbound atmosphere of music.

His background of Gospel music genre came from the church initially but later when he took up music as his career he thought about singing other types of music but finally decided to stick with Gospel. Whilst all his musician friends song love songs he wanted to give thanks to God. There are many times when he has come close to death. For example, deciding not to get on a particular bus only to hear later that it was involved in an accident. For those of you who know Lagos you know how easy that is and for those of you who don’t know Lagos you just have to use your imagination. He always thought that God was watching him. He is mainly self taught, using a computer and picking up things along the path | He has toured most of the 36 states in Nigeria , performing both live and in studios and also played the second fiddle either as in instrumentalist or a backup vocalist. You can catch yellowfella performing in leading studios across Nigeria . You can see and feel the love of music each and every time he plays and sings. He has played important roles, doing production jobs with artistes such as Kunle Kuti, Pasuma Wonder, Ayala1 (King of Fusion), Silver Saddih, Kuron, and he is currently working on album projects with Ese Peters and Katz

His most preferred method of developing a song is to close his eyes and strum gently on the guitar he then finds the melody comes to him. He sees his music as something that should remain timeless and should never date. He has a soft tone voice he doesn’t take anything special for his voice like some musicians who gaggle with lemon juice. He doesn’t like ice cold water and thinks that hinders his singing ability.
